JANSI Annual Conference 2021

JANSI held the "JANSI Annual Conference 2021" on March 17th 2021. This eighth annual conference was held online to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, and was viewed by about 600 people, including members of the Institute and domestic/foreign experts.


The conference was held to help set appropriate themes related to nuclear power, think of them as the issues of JANSI members and nuclear professionals themselves, and confirm the direction of future efforts while taking into account domestic and international trends.
This time, 10 years have passed since the accident at Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings' Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, and we summarized the activities of the utility, JANSI, etc. so far, and looked to the activities of the next 10 years.


The program started with a video message from Dr. Shinsuke Yamanaka, Commissioner of Nuclear Regulation Authority, Mr. Tom Mitchell, Chairman of WANO, and Mr. William D. Magwood, IV, Director-General of OECD NEA.


In the first part of panel discussion, under the theme of "Incorporating Lessons Learned From The Fukushima Daiichi Accident," Toshiyuki Koganeya, Director of Nuclear Regulation Policy Planning Division, Nuclear Regulation Department, Nuclear Regulation Authority, Mr. Jose Antonio Gago Badenas, General Manager & CEO of Asociacion Nuclear Asco-Vandellos (ANAV), Mr. Shigenori Makino, CNO of Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings and Masuhiro Nakano, Managing Executive Officer of JANSI introduced the initiatives in each field.


In the second part, Professor Akira Yamaguchi of Nuclear Professional School, School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo, chaired the theme of "Establishment and Progress of Voluntary Continuous Safety Improvement Initiative," and Mr. Fumihito Ogata, Executive Vice President of West Japan Railway Company, Mr. Jeffrey B. Archie, Former CNO of South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G), Mr. Yutaka Fujii, President & Director of Hokkaido Electric Power Company, Mr. Kazuhiro Ikebe, President & CEO of Kyushu Electric Power Company, and Hiromi Yamazaki, President & CEO of JANSI were on stage for discussion.
