Maintenance skill certification system

Introduced in October 1, 2010, the maintenance skill certification is a system to certify workers engaging in maintenance work at Japanese nuclear power plants by nationally uniform standards.

■ Purpose

The purpose of the maintenance skill certification is to apply an industry-wide standard of skill to maintenance workers in all Japanese utilities and to preserve the quality of the workers over the long run, thereby contributing to the reduction of human errors occurring during maintenance work.

■ Certification categories

1.Classes

Class A
(Level: Class A workers are those who are stationed at the field, capable of taking command of other workers during constructions along with engaging in their own work, and have expertise in configuration, components and degradation of equipment which they are responsible for, e.g. task leaders, team leaders, etc.

2.Equipment

Pumps, valves, motors, power panels, process instrumentations
